South Korean actress Jo Bo Ah has been rushed to hospital after being diagnosed of Encephalomeningitis.
The actress’ condition was revealed by her talent management agency Sidus HQ on Aug. 31. It added that Jo will have to undergo a thorough medical examination to find treatment for her illness.
"Because of her health, Jo Bo Ah went to the hospital this day and was diagnosed with Encephalomeningitis. For now, after getting the results, she returned to the set of her drama. She will have to get a close examination and receive treatment after first wrapping up filming," All Kpop quoted Jo's agency as saying.
According to Soompi, Jo was diagnosed of Encephalomeningitis the day before she was admitted to the hospital. In fact, she was even advised to stay for further checkups; however, the actress refused to follow the recommendation of her physician for the reason that she needs to continue shooting her scenes for her TV drama project “Monster.”
Encephalomeningitis is a medical condition wherein there is an inflammation of the brain and the membranous covering of the brain and spinal cord called meninges. It is often caused by pathogenic organisms, toxins, and other conditions.
Meanwhile, Jo started made her acting debut in the sitcom “I Live in Cheongdam-dong” in 2011. She later rose to fame through her portrayals in the TV drama series “Shut Up Flower Boy Band” (2012) and “The Idle Mermaid” (2014).
Her current show, “Monster,” centers on the life story of a man named Kang Kit Tan played by actor Kang Ji Hwan. In the romance thriller drama, Jo plays the role of the brat girl named Do Shin Young who developed a crush on Kang’s character.
