Rachel Bloom, 28, won the award for best performance by an actress in a television series, musical or comedy at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 10, Sunday. She defeated "Scream Queens" star Jamie Lee Curtis, "Veep" star Julia Louis-Dreyfus, "Jane the Virgin" star Gina Rodriguez and "Grace and Frankie" star Lily Tomlin.

After the 73rd Golden Globe Awards, Bloom talked to reporters in the press room about having a diverse cast. She pointed out that diversity enables "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" to explore a wider range of stories, such as Filipino Thanksgiving.

"I have learned so much about Filipino culture," Vulture quoted Bloom as saying. "What's insane is we are not fresh off the boat about specifically being Filipino. One of our characters happened to be Filipino."

According to Bloom, they realized that nobody had made the effort to show a Filipino family on an American comedy. She said it taught her really about how important diversity is for those who want to tell a new story.

Bloom went on to declare that from now, she would want to make anything else she does about "people who are diverse, gay, trans" and those whose stories have not been told before. She pointed out that the fact that America is a melting pot of immigrants, a fact that is not acknowledged half as much as it is on TV.

During the post- Golden Globes press conference, Bloom also proudly announced that Filipino Broadway star Lea Salonga will be guest-starring in "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" Season 2 episode 18. According to Bloom, her co-star Vincent Rodriguez, who is Filipino, "literally fainted to the ground" when he saw Salonga.

As Bloom said, America supports diversity and they want to show what America really is. She said they are excited to have "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" seen as a show that supports all different sorts of people.

In another interview with E! News at HBO's Golden Globes party, Bloom said she is going to "go up to anyone famous tonight and just be like, 'Hello.'" She was also seen taking photos while licking her new photo and joked, "It tastes like winning and power and the Illuminati."
