English Premier League powerhouse Manchester United is reportedly set to lock teenage striker Marcus Rashford with a new deal to prevent another Paul Pogba incident from happening at the Old Trafford.

The 18-year-old England international was recently signed by United to a four-year deal worth at least £1 million per season last May and the club is said to be planning to tie him down to their side for the long term with a new contract this season.

Rumors abound that there are "potential suitors from abroad" that had been pursuing Rashford recently and the move is said to be an attempt by United to "keep him out of the clutches" of these interested clubs for the foreseeable future.

Rashford is actually under contract with the Red Devils until 2020, but the team is still keen on improving his deal a bit further to avoid another Paul Pogba situation when the French midfielder ditched the club for a nominal fee to Juventus in the summer of 2012.

United ended up re-signing Pogba this summer for a world record-breaking transfer fee of £89.3 million from the Italian champions.

Daily Mail Online indicated that while "Rashford has played for England since penning his current deal and although his contract makes provision for pay rises if he hits certain targets", the Red Devils "will still have to upgrade his terms at appropriate times".

Unlike Pogba, though, there are no indications that Rashford is intending to move out of Old Trafford for more first-team time in another squad as he had been getting that with Louis van Gaal late last season and also this term with new head coach Jose Mourinho.

Caught Offside reported that even though Rashford is not the preferred starting central striker by Mourinho (the spot was obviously reserved for veteran Zlatan Ibrahimović), he is being developed into one of the best young strikers in England by Mourinho as he is seeing plenty of action as of late.

Rashford was part of Mourinho's starting XI during the team's 0-1 loss to Feyenoord in the Europa League last Thursday.

The 5-foot-11 Wythenshawe, England native came from United's youth academy and was only promoted to the senior squad last season.
