Ex-One Direction member Zayn Malik is featured in L'Uomo Vogue's January 2016 issue. Malik also talked about his life after parting ways with One Direction.
Malik goes shirtless for the magazine as he flaunts his tattooed torso. In one of the photographs, he is seen wearing a tracksuit by Givenchy.
"Now that I can really be myself and make music that feels honest to me, it doesn't feel like work. It really is relaxing to me," Zayn Malik said. He explained that when he decided to leave One Direction, it wasn't a "big build up." He added that he felt he was at the right place.
Malik was asked if he was in touch with the existing members of One Direction. "The truth is I haven't spoken to any of the boys at all really, I spoke to Liam a bit and that's just the way it is. I did try to reach out to a couple of people and they didn't get back to me, but then publicly, when they were asked questions about it, said that they'd spoken to me and that we were friends. But that's not the case, I tried to reach out and be their friend but they haven't even replied to any of my calls or texts."
The pop star added that there is no competition between him and One Direction. Malik signed a record deal with RCA and worked in the studio on his new album. He has teamed up with Malay who has produced numerous tracks on his album.
When Malik if his fans can expect him collaborating with One Direction, he responded that he wants this album to be about him. Malik stated that he was a part of a band and now he just wants to hear himself.
