Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, ending their two-year marriage. Their split has been a long time coming.
According to Variety, Jolie's attorney Robert Offer confirmed the news to the Associated Press. Jolie has filed for divorce on Monday for the health of the family. The legal documents request a joint legal custody of the pair's six children. Jolie would have physical custody of the children and would grant Pitt visitation rights. The legal grounds for divorce are listed ad irreconcilable differences.
Jolie is claiming jewelry and other personal items. She is also claiming her earnings from and after the date of the couple's separation. These were marked as Sept. 15, 2016 in the court documents. On the other hand, Pitt released a statement confirming the news and asked for privacy for his children on Tuesday morning. He admitted that he is very saddened by this challenging time.
Reports suggest that the Jolie, 41, and Pitt, 52, have been having problems for the last year, as Entertainment Tonight reported. The hottest couple has not slept in the same bed for a long time. They were last seen together at the 2015 Wall Street Journal Magazine Innovator Awards on Nov. 4, 2015 in New York City. They had separate rooms and were on their own schedules.
Another reports claimed that Pitt has also been more carefree and easygoing in the recent months. He was making the most out of his free time. He went out for lunch with no big entourage, just walking around. He seems living his life how he wants to live it.
There are speculations that Jolie and Pitt also struggled with parenting issues for their six kids, namely, Maddox (age of 15), Pax (age of 12), Zahara (age of 11), Shiloh (age of 10), and twins Vivienne and Knox (age of 8). When it comes to parenting skills, Pitt is more traditional while Jolie much more freeform.
There are also divorce rumors that Pitt's sexy "Allied" co-star Marion Cottilard allegedly was getting romantic with the leading man. Some claimed that the two were hooking up. Others say Cottilard had nothing to do with Brangelina split.
The married couple has been together since 2004 and tied the knot on August 14, 2014. They called it quits nearly one month after their second anniversary. Pitt recently took a solo trip to Croatia on Sept. 1, meeting with investors. Meanwhile, Jolie was spotted in Syria on Sept. 12, visiting refugee camps in Jordan. Their last sighting together before the divorce announcement was a birthday breakfast with Knox and Vivienne at the Griddle Café in West Hollywood, California, back in July.
