"Mean Girls" actress Amanda Seyfried just got engaged to her actor boyfriend Thomas Sadoski. People are not expecting her engagement ring to be, making it controversial.

According to E! News, Seyfried is giving everyone a glimpse of her surprise minimalist engagement ring from her "Last Word" co-star Sadoski. She was spotted grabbing her cell phone while walking the streets of New York City. Photographers captured a simple gold band sitting pretty on her finger. Fans have been expecting a glitzy Hollywood rock.

Seyfried's engagement ring seems to suit her simple look, wearing a simple t-shirt and jeans with a pair of sunglasses and a ponytail. It is probably one of the simplest engagement rings the world has ever seen on a celebrity. She had just been proposed to Sadoski with a ring that many dubbed as untraditional, unconventional, and different, Vogue reported.

However, there is nothing wrong in having a simple diamond-less, gold ring as that of Seyfried's. This only proves that love cannot be bought with money. Her simple ring may symbolize how simple she is and how down to earth she really is. Many women nowadays prefer a simple ring as an engagement ring.

The future Mr. and Mrs. first started working together in a stage production of the off-Broadway show "The Way We Get By." The show is about two people who get drunk at a wedding and wake up with each other. Afterwards, Seyfried and Sadoski have dated for less than a year. They also worked together in the upcoming comedy "The Last Word." The comedy film revolves the story of a one-time retired businesswoman Harriett Lawlet (Shirley MacLaine). She tries to control everything around her, so she hires a local writer (Seyfried) to do the task. Sadoski plays a local radio DJ who becomes a love interest for the young writer.

Seyfried, 30, and Sadoski, 40, shared the news of their engagement with their families and close friends.
