"Airlift" actor Akshay Kumar is sure to leave a huge mark with his upcoming movie but he urges that patriotism is not something that has hit him suddenly. He saidt his is why he has started to pick up on movies like "Baby" and "Airlift."

According to Kumar, patriotism is something that has been in his roots since his father was in Indian Army. He told Koimoi that he does not want to concentrate on one type of films and he liked the script of "Airlift" and decided to do it but that doesn't mean that he is not open to other genres.

Aside from the comedy and romance genre, Kumar has also done Bollywood films in the war and patriotism genre. In an interview with NDTVKumar and his "Airlift" co-star Nimrat Kaur, who is also a "Homeland" actress, talked about the stereotypical pre-conceived notion on women-centric and male-centric movies.

Kumar revealed that he has a women-centric film script and  he is looking forward to work with Kaur in it. He said he does not care as to how much screen-space he gets and all he cares when he likes a script of the movie is that the audience appreciate it. For him, attributed the success of his previous fims to his female co-stars, including "Quantico" actress Priyanka Chopra and "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" star Kareena Kapoor.

Talking on the same lines, Kaur even expressed that she does not think that a male or female superstar would ever deny a good script based on screen space. She and her "Airlift" co-star are apparently very fond of each other and have even shared with fans their love for North Indian food.

In addition, Kumar made a bold statement regarding the recent Pathankot bomb blast. He said, "India has always been known for its tolerance. We've always tried to keep peace but when attacks like the one at Pathankot happen, you realise that the time has come to retaliate."

While busy promoting "Airlift," Kumar is also currently filming a Tamil film "2.0" while "Housefull 3" started filming in November 2015. Watch the "Airlift" trailer here:
