Developer CI Games has just released a new trailer for the upcoming "Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3." Being a reinvention of the series, the game is more open-world compared to its predecessors and will have more features as well.
According to Gamespot, the trailer shows off the wonderful vistas of the game in its massively generated maps. The scenery includes nature locales like mountainsides and forests to establishments like train stations and enemy camps.
Even if the title is called "Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3," players could also focus on the "ghost" and "warrior" aspects as well. This means that other than sniping at enemies from great distances, players can go assault as well, getting up close and personal with enemies. There was even a scene in the trailer where players have driving sequences and run over enemies as well.
Senior designer Tomek Pruski mentioned during Gamescom that the game is "ultimately" about "mixing and matching," using the sniper, ghost and warrior aspects to "adapt to the situation as it unfolds." Pruski said that during the times players won't be sniping, they would have to resort to shift into warrior mode and engage the enemies converging on their location or being a ghost to sneak away.
In an earlier article of Game Reactor, Pruski stated that players get to take the role as John North, "an American sniper sent behind enemy lines to Georgia to disrupt local separatist operations and eliminate high value targets." While that's the main official mission of the game, John North also has a private mission of his own: To find his missing soldier brother who last scene in the area.
CI Games will be broadcasting the gameplay on Twitch on 4:30 PM PT / 7:30 PM ET.
"Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3" will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Jan. 27, 2017.
