NBA News & Rumors: A closer look into Darren Collison domestic violent

NBA officially announced that Sacramento Kings point guard Darren Collison is suspended eight games without pay for domestic violent. During investigation, Collison is very cooperative and accepting responsibility.

In an official release as quoted by CBS Sport, NBA conducted its own investigation into the domestic violent. The incident involving his wife happened in their home in the Sacramento suburb of Granite Bay on May 30. NBA also consulted many experts in the domestic violence case, and after many conderation, the NBA made a decision to suspend Collison for eight games without pay.

"Based on this investigation, consultation, and a careful weighing of all the facts and circumstances, the NBA determined that an eight-game suspension was appropriate," the press release read.

With the suspension, Collison will not be able to play in the first regular season game on Oct. 26 against Phoenix Suns. He can come back to court in the game against New Orleans Pelican on Nov. 8.

The domestic violence case is deemed as misdemeanor by the Placer County Sheriff's Office. Collison also took responsibility for his action to his wife Keyosha Sanders, which he married in 2015. The 29-year old player pleaded guily and he was being very cooperative and took counseling and a 52-week community service.

In the league's investigation for his case, a source told  USA Today that the expert which NBA consulted was the same expert as the same misdemeanor domestic violence against former Charlotte Hornets forward Jeff Taylor who was suspended for 24 games in Nov. 24. Taylor , is now playing in Real Madrid in Euroleague basketball.

Domestic violence casein the United States often happens, and according to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, its hotlines receive 20,000 calls per day reporting domestic violence. Statistically speaking, 20 people are physically abused in the United States by an intimate partner per minute.

Therefore, NBA takes a very serious consideration into this matter. In Collisons' case of domestic violence incident against his wife, NBA decided to suspend Collison for eight games.
