Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have reached a temporary custody agreement over the couple's six children. The agreement gives Jolie the sole physical custody of their kids while Pitt is given visitation rights. The agreement is in effect until Oct. 20, multiple sources confirmed.

Huffington Post reported that both Jolie and Pitt will undergo counselling but separate and individually, in addition to a family counselling together with their children. This is in connection with the suggestion of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).

Pitt will also be subject to random drug and alcohol tests. This is after allegations of child abuse have surfaced just days after Jolie filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. Reports alleged that Pitt got verbally abusive and physical with one of the kids.

The FBI is still evaluating whether or not it will launch an investigation into Pitt's child abuse allegations.

On the other hand, People magazine reported that while Jolie is given temporary custody of the six kids, as that stated in the divorce papers she filed, this is not the final determination of custody. This is a completely voluntary agreement, and it is not a court order or a mandate of any kind.

Jolie, 41, filed the legal papers on Sept. 29, 2016 from her husband Pitt, 52.

The "Tom Raider" actress did not ask for any spousal support but is asking for the physical custody of the couple's six children - Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox.

In a statement to People.com, Pitt said, "I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the wellbeing of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."

The couple first met on the set of the 2003 film "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" and began dating shortly after. They got married at their estate Château Miraval in France on August 23, 2014. They have been together for 12 years.

This has been the third marriage for Jolie, who was previously married to actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton, and the second for Pitt, who divorced Jennifer Aniston in 2005.
