Preview
Sacramento opened their preseason campaign with a 103-84 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center on Tuesday.
The Kings actually led the game by 13 points at the half, 52-39, but a huge second half run by the Lakers turned the game around. New head coach Dave Joerger's squad was trumped in the fourth quarter, 39-15, which allowed LA to pull off the come-from-behind victory.
DeMarcus Cousins played only 11 minutes and produced 11 points, six rebounds, and four assists in a remarkable all-around game. Shooting guard Aron Afflalo was also impressive with 14 points and five rebounds in 18 minutes of play.
Rudy Gay, who had been mentioned in several trade rumors this summer, started at the small forward spot and fired eight points, grabbed four rebounds, dished off three assists in 16 minutes.
Ben McLemore came off the bench and had a horrible night, shooting 3-for-10 from the field with only seven points.
New signing Ty Lawson also struggled as a backup point guard. He only had four points, three boards, and two assists in 22 minutes.
Meanwhile, this would be the Warriors third game in the preseason after they opened with a 97-93 loss in Toronto last Saturday and thrashed the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center on Tuesday, 120-75.
Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry are expected to gel more with one another as games pass. Against the Clippers, they played a little longer than their preseason opener with 24 and 23 minutes respectively.
Durant scored 31 points while Curry fired 14 markers. However, the star of the night was Klay Thompson, who poured in 30 points on 10-for-14 field goal shooting including a 6-for-9 stint beyond the arc. Thompson played 21 minutes in the game.
Draymond Green also had an impressive all-around performance in 22 minutes with eight points, nine rebounds, and five assists.
Prediction
Head coach Steve Kerr would like his team to get used to the pressure of being the favorites to win games every time. The Warriors get better after each preseason game so far, and they are expected to still improve in this match against the Kings. Another lopsided win for Durant, Curry, and company is predicted.
