Preview

New Orleans has two games left in the preseason as they close with a match against the Orlando Magic on Thursday after this game.

With only a win to show after four games, head coach Alvin Gentry would want to boost his team's confidence entering the new season as they go for a couple of wins in their last two preseason matches.

Their most recent game was a 116-104 defeat to the Houston Rockets at the MasterCard Center in China on Oct. 12, ending their two-game series in the Far East nation. The Pelicans also lost their first game against the Rockets on Oct. 9, 123-117.

Pelicans main man Anthony Davis played only seven minutes and contributed two points on 1-for-5 shooting.

Solomon Hill was the only double-digit scorer in the starting lineup with 12 points. He also added seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Four bench players scored in double figures with Quinn Cook leading the team with 20 points and eight assists in 21 minutes. Langston Galloway, Cheick Diallo, and Dante Cunningham fired 16, 12, and 12 respectively.

Lance Stephenson played 23 minutes and contributed nine points, two boards, and five assists off the bench.

Meanwhile, the Hawks have alternated winning and losing in their first five matches in the preseason. Their last game was a 105-98 win over the Orlando Magic at the Amway Center on Sunday.

Dwight Howard was rested by head coach Mike Budenholzer after a monstrous performance against the Detroit Pistons during their previous game.

Budenholzer fielded in an entirely new starting unit against the Magic with Paul Millsap, who is returning from knee surgery, included in the lineup.

Millsap had an impressive all-around game in his first game back from injury, scoring 19 points on 7-for-12 shooting. He also had nine rebounds and seven assists in only 19 minutes.

Thabo Sefolosha started at small forward and contributed 15 points, four boards, and two assists also in 19 minutes of action.

Prediction

Another home win for Atlanta as Budenholzer builds his team's confidence to begin the new season.
