Preview

The Warriors and Lakers met last Saturday for the first time in the preseason with Golden State winning a close match, 112-107.

Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Kevin Durant all suited up but Draymond Green was not utilized by Warriors head coach Steve Kerr during the game. Thompson top scored with 24 points in 19 minutes while Durant and Curry had 17 and 14 points respectively.

Zaza Pachulia continued to start at center while sophomore Kevon Looney filled-in for Green in the starting lineup.

Rookie point guard Patrick McCaw and veteran center JaVale McGee led the bench with 13 and 12 points in a balanced attack for the Warriors.

Meanwhile, Lakers head coach Luke Walton, formerly one of Kerr's assistants, started Jordan Clarkson for the first time in the preseason together with D'Angelo Russell.

The backcourt duo was productive during the game with Clarkson scoring a team-high 15 points in 30 minutes while Russell netted eight markers and dished out five assists in 28 minutes.

Starting center Timofey Mozgov had 10 points and four rebounds while power forward Julius Randle netted five points and hauled down a team-high seven boards.

Veteran small forward Luol Deng continued to play poorly for the Hollywood squad as he only managed to score 4 points on 2-for-7 shooting in only 19 minutes of play.

Off the bench, mercurial wingman Nick Young scattered 17 points on 6-for-9 shooting, including a 50 percent clip from beyond the arc. Rookie Brandon Ingram had 12 points and three assists in 26 minutes spelling Deng most of the time.

Centers Anderson Varejao and Damian Jones are not available for the Warriors due to injuries while veteran floor general Jose Calderon is out for the Lakers also because of a minor injury.

Prediction

Golden State is predicted to pull off a second straight win against the young Lakers squad if Curry, Thompson, and Durant suits up once more. But Coach Walton is expected to learn more from his former mentor.
