The recent episode of "Jane the Virgin" was entirely devoted to the fate of Jane's new husband, police detective Michael. The episode was an emotional ride, allowing viewers to have a peek on the two's love story. The episode picked up from the shocking season two finale where Michael being shot on his wedding night by his partner Susanna, who is revealed to the audience and Luisa to be Rose in disguise.

The season three opener revisited the earlier moments of Jane and Michael's relationship, as well as exploring the tension between Jane and Michael's mother. Then a series of flashbacks and flash-forwards ensued, which could have been too much for an episode, but was mellowed by the fact that much of the characters' present state are in the hospital.

It could have been a great night for the newlyweds had Michael not been shot. At the hospital, Alba asked Jane what she is thinking to which she responded, "I think that this wasn't supposed to happen. We talked about who would take out the trash and when we'd have another baby, not what I should do if there was a bullet near his spine."

Rogelio had another brush with the law when he agreed to pee in a cup for a couple of guys to help them pass a drug test. This is to convince them not to tweet him being at the hospital where everyone is distressed. It ended with Rogelio getting arrested and Xo telling him that she is pregnant following her tryst with Esteban, but is not having the baby.

The flashback brought the viewers to that moment when Jane chose to go on a date with a guy she had a crush on for 17 months, and lied to Michael about being sick. Michael decided to visit her and brought some soup but ended up seeing Jane in a beautiful dress and taking off in the car with Sam. He then pulled them over and confronted Jane.

At the hospital, Jane talked words of encouragement and future plans to an unconscious Michael as he is about to go into surgery. "I'm not going to say goodbye because this is not the end of our story," she said.

"We're going to be that old couple that sit on the front porch reminiscing, arguing over details," and then  the old versions of Michael and Jane were shown, with gray hair, wrinkled faces, and conservative sweaters, discussing what exactly was said when Michael pulled Sam over.

And then Michael made it from the surgery, making good on his promise. He then informed the police that it was Susanna who shot him, not knowing that she is actually Rose. The big cliffhanger from season 2 was resolved, but as always have been with the show, there are still so many new questions left unanswered.
