Aaron Paul is heading to space in his new project, "Android." The actor, known for his role on AMC's "Breaking Bad," has boarded the scifi thriller co-starring Olga Kuryenko.
As first reported by Variety, "Android" is an upcoming film produced by Picture Films and Infinite Studios with Niall Johnson attached to direct. Lead stars Aaron Paul and Olga Kuryenko and the rest of the cast will begin production in February 2017. The movie will mark as Paul's first big screen role after starring on Hulu's The Path.
Set on a lonely spaceship orbiting Neptune, "Android" will find Paul's character on a mission to fulfill his dream to rebuild his dead wife (Kuryenko) and their son as androids. But when his wife and son's version of androids begin demanding their own independence, he finds himself in danger and a battle of wits and strength ensues.
"We are so excited to see what Aaron and Olga can bring to this film," Hand said.
"Niall and Matt have written a genre-bending and thrilling film that is grounded in the relationship of two complicated and interesting characters. There are no better actors to work with Niall to bring this film to life."
Paul, who won an Emmy for his role as Jesse Pinkman on "Breaking Bad," has also appeared on "Big Love," "Exodus: Gods and Kings," "Central Intelligence" and "Smashed."
Currently, Paul is developing a one-hour drama series with NBC called "Blackmail." According to Deadline, the show will center on a newly married couple who after a life-changing incident, decide to get revenge at a man responsible by threatening to reveal his infidelity to his fiancée.
The release date of "Android" in theatres is yet to be announced.
