Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has announced his new film, which will be based on story of independent India's first Olympic gold medal victory.
The 49-year-old recently shared first look of his next patriotic movie on his twitter account. "Set in 1948, the historic story of India's first Olympic medal as a free nation, Gold coming to you on 15 August 2018," the actor wrote. The patriotic sports drama is titled "Gold" and it will be directed by Reema Kagti. "Gold" will be made under Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar's production banner Excel Entertainment, Press Trust of India reported.
Kumar is riding high after the successes of "Rustom," "Housefull 3" and "Airlift" movies this year. Kumar will be next seen in Subhash Kapoor's "Jolly LLB 2" - a sequel of 2013 hit movie "Jolly LLB," DNA India reported. As per recent media reports, Kumar has completed shoot of the courtroom drama in just 30 days. Kumar has recently been featured in Forbes's magazine's world's top ten highest paid actors list. Kumar has secured 10th spot in Forbes world's highest paid actors in year 2016 with the earnings of $31.5 million.
The "Baby" actor will also make his Kollywood debut next year with superstar Rajinikanth's "2.0." Directed by Shankar, "2.0" is a sequel of 2010 science fiction "Robot." The movie, which stars British model and actress Amy Jackson in female lead, will see Kumar playing negative role for the first time in his acting career. "2.0" will be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages in second half of next year.
