It looks like another girl group will say goodbye this year. The agency of the South Korean girl group Rainbow finally confirmed the group's disbandment.

Recently, Soompi has learned that the local news source Joynews24 reported that Rainbow members Kim Jaekyung and Kim Jisook have decided not to renew their contract with their agency DSP Media.

An industry source further revealed that the Rainbow members decided not to renew their contracts after long discussions. Few members are also said to be meeting with other agencies.

However, DSP Media revealed that the group decided to disband upon the expiration of their contract on Nov. 12. The disbandment is due to the members' diverging career paths.

"Although we discussed with Rainbow member Kim Jae-kyung, Go Woo-ri, Kim Ji-sook, Noel, Oh Seung-ah, Jung Yoon-hye, and Cho Hyun-young their futures, they have decided to go their separate ways," the agency revealed to The Korea Times. DSP Media even asked fans to continue showing their wholehearted support to the group's individual activities in the future and wished that may they be remembered for their bright, positive image like a rainbow.

In 2009, the group debuted under DSP Media with their mini album "Gossip Girl." Rainbow then released their hit song "A" in 2010, followed by "Tell Me Tell Me" (2013) and "Whoo" (2016).

The group members have also been active in their various individual activities such as hosting, acting, and promoting in a sub-unit. It is worth noting that the group debuted as KARA's sister group which was also formed by DSP Media.

KARA is composed of members Park Gyu-ri, Hang Seung-yeon, Goo Hara, and Heo Young-ji. The group's name comes from the Greek word "chara" which means "sweet melody."

Let's take a look with the group's performance before they say goodbye.
