The upcoming third season of Showtime's sexy family drama "The Affair" will have Noah (Dominic West) and Helen (Maura Tierney) deal with their daughter Whitney's (Julia Goldani Telles) new boyfriend. This new boyfriend will be played by "Desperate Housewives" alum Jonathan Cake, who will be joining the Showtime drama in the recurring role of Whitney’s boss and love interest, TVLine has reported exclusively.

Cake’s character will be a guy named Furkat, who is a Brooklyn-based photographer and whose brashness is polarizing. His relationship with Noah and Helen's younge daughter would probably add more tension to what was already strained relationship between the former couple and their children.

In a Yahoo! interview, Golden Globe award winning actress Maura Tierney revealed that there is going to be a three-year time jump in the new season of the drama series. By that time, everyone has already moved on and living separate lives. Helen has a new boyfriend and is trying to move on from her failed marriage.

"It is three years later. She has a boyfriend. She's with Vic, Dr. Ullah [Omar Metwally]. They have an interesting relationship that is clear, but unclear at the beginning of the season. Everyone has moved on in a way. All of the characters are in a different place. There's a new love interest for Noah. Again, the characters are continuing to diverge, their stories are getting more separate," the actress said.

Meanwhile, season three will also show that Noah and Alison's love story may have already ended. This will somewhat be the result of Noah's discovery last season that Alison's baby may not be his after all. As mentioned in Tierney's interview, the show will explore the characters' life three years after that trial where Noah was accused of killing Scotty. By this time, viewers were already aware that it was actually Helen who accidentally did it.

A new teaser was also released showing Noah being haunted by his past mistakes and trangressions. The most recent video released by Showtime for the third season of "The Affair" shows the past and present timelines of the story. It showed Noah telling his ex wife, Helen (Maura Tierney), in prison that he wants her to leave him alone. Apart from his complicated relationship with Helen, it looks like Noah will have a new romantic interest named Juliette (Irene Jacob), which means he might have cut ties with Alison.

"The Affair" season three will return to television on November 20, 2016.
