Huawei Mate 9 Specs: The alpha among flagships arrives; Leica-dual camera stands out

Yesterday, Huawei introduced and detailed the Mate 9 specs and features, and undoubtedly it's the top dog among flagship devices that are available today.

The Chinese-based phone manufacturer unexpectedly surprised everyone with the Huawei Mate 9 as its specs reveal a powerful device clad in a luxurious design built. It boasts an enormous display of 5.9-inch FHD display with 1080p resolution and 373ppi, and color saturation is at 96 percent with a high contrast of 1500:1.

As per design, it follows its predecessors built with a metal finish frame, curved 2.5D glass and matte finish on its back. The Huawei Mate 9 is available on color variants of Space Gray, Silver, Gold, Brown and Ceramic White, CNET reported.

Under the hood is Huawei's Kirin 960 along with octa-core cpu, four cores running at 2.4 GHz A73 and four cores on 1.8 GHz A53, and i6 co-processor. The powerful chipset is accompanied by a Mali-G71 MP8 GPU and 4GB RAM. It has an internal storage of 64GB and expandable to 256GB.  Also, the Huawei Mate 9 comes fresh out of the box in Android 7.0 Nougat with the latest EMUI 5.0, Indian Express reported.

Aside from the superb performance it can bring to its users, the Leica-dual camera is a real stand out from the Huawei Mate 9 specs and features. The Leica lens found on previous Huawei phones makes a comeback with larger pixels. The improved camera now features a 20MP monochrome lens along with a 12MP RGB sensor which has F2.2, according to Digital Trends.

Moreover, same features from the P9 variant can be found on the Huawei Mate 9 such as dual-tone flash,PDAF, CAF, Laser and Depth auto focus, along with 2x Hybrid zoom. It also supports for 4K video recording and has an 8MP front camera with auto-focus and F1.9.

With Huawei Mate 9's promising specs and features, the flagship device comes with a hefty price tag of $775. Availability of the device is yet to be announced and may vary per region.
