(Photo : Twitter/@screenrant) Hugh Jackman posed as Wolverine/Logan for the untitled “Wolverine 3,” the last time he will be playing the role.

Hugh Jackman's final stint as the Wolverine will be a solo movie titled "Logan." But even though it will focus on Wolverine getting really old, he will have someone with him that could probably usher the next generation of mutants in the X-Men movie universe.

From Comics to Movie

The upcoming movie about Wolverine heavily relies from the comic book titled "Old Man Logan." The comic book series focuses on the mutant superhero in his advanced age while ensuring the future of another young mutant.

The initial poster of "Logan" feature Wolverine's hand holding a hand of a child. The hand belongs to a child named Laura Kinney who will eventually become X-23.

The Origins of X-23

It's still unknown if the origin story of Laura Kinney will be shown in the film. According to Comic Book Resource, Laura Kinney is a clone of Wolverine after multiple experiments of Weapon X failed to produce his replacement. Laura is the 23rd experiment and the first successful clone of Wolverine.

X-23 is quite a unique character in the world of X-Men because she first appeared in animated series instead of comic books. She also has small but significant difference compared to the original Wolverine. She only has two claws instead of three, she has another claw on her foot and her claws are the only parts of her body covered with adamantium.

X-Men and Avengers Crossover?

The introduction of X-23 is very important to the world of X-Men and Avengers. In the comic books, X-23 was briefly part of the new Avengers and she has also interacted with other major characters in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). X-23 interacted with Ant-Man, Hulk and even Doctor Strange in one of her many adventures.

Laura Kinney or X-23 will be played by Dafne Keen. Aside from Keen, Patrick Stewart also returns as Professor-X. The film will tackle a different type of villains as Wolverine will face mutants, humans as well as cyborgs called "Reavers." According to Entertainment Weekly, the final film of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is set for nationwide release on March 3 next year.
