In an interview with Arena magazine, Kai talked about how his goals have changed after joining EXO. Rather than hoping to achieve more awards as a solo artist, the EXO member has a long-term goal for the boy group.

"Rather than achieving something as an EXO member, I want to keep all the EXO members together until the end. That's become my ultimate goal. Life goals always change," Kai said as per Allkpop.

The EXO member added they are always aiming to improve despite receiving recognitions here and there. Kai also shared how being a member of the boy group taught him a lot of things.

"I learned a lot of patience, and the anger in my heart has disappeared. In the past, I wasn't able to do group practice well. I always practiced alone," Kai revealed.

He narrated, "Back then, the other trainees would leave at 9PM, but I'd practice until 12 and 1AM alone. Being with EXO though, I've learned how to work in a group," adding that he used to have a hard time dealing with people and didn't have many friends before he became an EXO member.

Kai added he used to be awkward around fans, but has learned to overcome it later. "It was so awkward interacting with fans, but these days, I'm no joke at it. In my opinion, I've become a lot more natural," he said.

Meanwhile, Kai and EXO were the top 10 artists for the 2016 Melon Music Awards, Soompi reported. The music awards show revealed the list on Nov. 4, which includes MAMAMOO, BewhY, Zico, TWICE, Taeyeon, GFRIEND, Akdong Musician, BTS, Red Velvet, and EXO.
