Preview

The Knicks and Celtics are both struggling this early in the season as the two teams adjust to their new lineups.

However, New York is somewhat resurging lately as the team has won two of their last three games. The Knicks defeated the Brooklyn Nets, 110-96, in the first New York derby of the season on Wednesday at the Madison Square Garden, as per the New York Times.

Carmelo Anthony led his team's balanced offensive attack with 22 points, seven rebounds, and two assists while super-sophomore Kristaps Porzingis had 21 points, eight boards, two steals, and two blocks in an impressive defensive display.

Derrick Rose chipped in 14 points, three rebounds, and four assists in only 22 minutes of play mainly because of the impressive performance of backup point guard Brandon Jennings, who tore the Nets' defense with 11 assists despite scoring only three points,

Starting shooting guard Courtney Lee had 13 points and three rebounds while rookie center Willy Hernangomez contributed 14 points, six boards, and two blocks as the recipient of most of Jennings' passes.

The game started shaky for the Knicks as they were down by a dozen points in the first quarter. However, 14 straight points from Anthony in the third period completely turned the game around.

Meanwhile, the Celtics are reeling right now with three consecutive losses. Their last game was an embarrassing 118-93 drubbing from the Washington Wizards at the Verizon Center on Wednesday, the Boston Herald reported.

Boston continued to play without starters Al Horford and Jae Crowder. Fill-ins Tyler Zeller and Jaylen Brown cannot seem to get the job done for head coach Brad Stevens' squad as they go on their slow plummet down the standings.

Isaiah Thomas led the Celtics with 23 points, six boards, and 10 assists as he tries to revive his teammates' lackluster efforts. Avery Bradley backed him up with 21 points while Amir Johnson had 11 points.

Prediction

The Knicks have won only two of their last seven road games while the Celtics have won seven of their last nine home matches. A tough game to call as both clubs have not been impressive lately, but New York is the slight favorite as momentum slowly gathers in head coach Jeff Hornacek's side.
