10 years after - the WB-turned-CW comedy-drama television series, "Gilmore Girls", is finally coming back on Netflix. The show, titled "Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life", returns as a miniseries, consisting of four 90-minute episodes, corresponding to each season, winter, spring, summer, and fall. It will premiere on Nov. 25, Friday.
Although the series has returned and its dynamics are not far from the original, Lauren Graham, who plays the role of Lorelai Gilmore, told the press during the Television Critics Association summer preview last July, "It's not a story about a little girl anymore who's in high school. It's a story about a young woman and the struggles she faces." She expressed further that the main scheme of the show continues to focus on family, friendship, and romance.
The first episode of the show jumps back in six months after the death of Lorelai's father, Richard (Edward Herrmann, who passed away at the age of 71 in 2014). This comes in a decade after her daughter, Rory (Alexis Bledel), left home to chase her dream as a journalist. Rory then comes back to Stars Hollow to reunite with Lorelai and her grandmother, Emily (Kelly Bishop).
Series creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, describes the comeback as a big moment for the series. She also exhilarated fans with the complicated romantic connection of Rory towards her former suitors, Jess Mariano (Milo Ventimiglia), Dean Forester (Jared Padalecki), and Logan Huntzberger (Matt Czuchry). Ventimiglia told Us Weekly during the NBC + Vanity Fair Party that the series revival was established chiefly for the devoted fans, and said he is excited for their following.
"Gilmore Girls" originally ran for seven seasons and took its finale on May 15, 2007. Other stars who will be returning as part of the cast are Scott Paterson, Keilo Agena, Melissa McCarthy, Yanic Truesdale, Sean Gunn, David Sutcliffe and Liza Weil. The countdown is finally on for the return of the mother-daughter duo and the dynamic relationships among each of the characters.
