We've always had fantasy games (and other forms of media) where dragons are the staple element there. Although, there are only a few games where we could own and even customize our own awesome pet dragons. That's where Platinum Games' "Scalebound" comes in! Here, we will see how the game plays out along with numerous customization options for your pet dragons.

"Scalebound" gives players the role of the protagonist Drew battling the foes in the world of Draconis, along with his dragon companion Thuban. The role-playing game, of course, has given players access to numerous weapons, but the main focus would be the dragon battles with Thuban. Players can give commands to their dragon companion and even control it to assist them in battles and deliver hell to their enemies. This is apparent with how developers at Platinum Games wanted it since their focus was more qualities of the graphics and role-playing instead of action.

Speaking of the dragon, since players have Drew as the main character, Thuban will be mostly run by the AI. Players can control it, however, when it comes to delivering attacks. In "Scalebound," the trainer Drew and his dragon companion have some sort of a mystical bond together, meaning that once one of them die, the other dies as well. The game has a mode called the Dragon-Link mode, where it will allow you to control Thuban from Drew's point-of-view. But this will also make him vulnerable to enemy fire.

Polygon reports that the look of the dragon companion Thuban has been an interesting venture for the developers. But even "Scalebound" has three different dragons with three different characteristics to customize with. Players can also modify armors and skills, with gems used to upgrade them.

What's another interesting feature is that Drew has the ability to morph into a half-dragon hybrid that will grant him unique abilities and strength. Even another interesting feature is the berserker mode for Thuban, granting him elemental based attacks. Even other dragons have that ability.

"Scalebound" creator Hideki Kamiya, demonstrated the gameplay of the game, showing the bond of Drew and Thuban, as well as the advanced customization where players can actually able to create their own dragon.

"Scalebound" will be released on 2017 running at 1080p on Xbox One and 4K on PC.
