Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat and her boyfriend Cyrille Auxenfans were apparently assaulted by a group of men in their Paris apartment on Nov. 11. The intruders were reportedly masked and sprayed the couple with tear gas before punching them.
The 40-year-old actress and her beau were attacked in the hallway of their apartment building by three men who had their faces covered with scarves. The incident took place in rue de la Faisanderie, an upscale neighborhood in the French capital, where Auxenfans resides.
A friend close to Sherawat told CNN that the actress is shaken by the incident but is unharmed. "She and her boyfriend got out of their car and they were entering the building but the doors took time to shut and had not shut when three masked men attacked them," the source told the publication. "They sprayed them with tear gas and pushed her to the ground and started hitting her boyfriend."
The insider added that one of the suspects tried to grab Sherawat's bag but she pushed him away and started shouting. After a brief struggle, the intruders fled the scene. The men responsible for the attack have not yet been arrested and the motive behind the attack is yet to be known but police are investigating the incident.
The attack took place approximately 2.5 miles away from the luxury apartment where Kim Kardashian was tied up and robbed of $10 million worth of jewelry by a group of armed men posing as police officers, according to US Weekly. It remains to be known whether both incidents are connected.
Sherawat has been quite active on Twitter but has not mentioned anything about the attack on the micro-blogging site. However, on Nov. 14, Monday, she shared an emotional video on Twitter, from a luxury hotel in Geneva, Switzerland.
Sherawat, whose real name is Reema Lamba, is a well-known celebrity in India but has also starred in several international films including the Chinese action-adventure film "Time Raiders" and Hollywood films like "Politics of Love" and "Hisss"
