There seems to be more and more news surfacing on the upcoming "Han Solo" film, a spin-off of the "Star Wars" film franchise. Last we've heard, "Game of Thrones" actress Emilia Clarke joins the cast for Lucasfilm's much-awaited film. Now, we get word from the studio's president herself, Kathleen Kennedy, who discusses the overall tone and direction of the spin-off film, comparing it to Westerns and heist movies. Earlier reports also indicate that the "Han Solo" film might have more than one movie to premiere.

Kennedy told Variety that the upcoming "Han Solo" film will have a direction to move "closer to a heist or Western type feel." She also mentioned that after looking at the paintings of Frederic Remington - a skillful artist who had a hand in depicting the Old West - the colors used by the artist will contribute and define "the look and feel of the film."

In other newst was already mentioned earlier this year that the "Han Solo" film might span into three films, based on undisclosed sources to The New York Daily News. Lucasfilms has actually "quietly signed" "Hail, Caesar!" actor Alden Ehrenreich for "at least three movies," which could mean that the spin-off film might include Han Solo's numerous adventures in the far reaches of space. While it could possibly mean that a trilogy may be planned, it's actually unsure that the new film series would solely focus on the dashing space smuggler or if he will make multiple appearances in other "Star Wars" films.

The anonymous sources also claimed that the studio sees a lot of potential with this Ehrenreich's incarnation of the character. That being said, Solo's adventures do not all have to be pulled in to the main plotline of the Empire. Intrinsically, audiences can have a chance to see a variety of new characters and "explore new galaxies and crazy creatures" from these prequel and spin-off films.

Chris Miller and Phil Lord will be helming the "Han Solo" standalone film. Other than Ehrenreich as the young Han Solo, "Community" actor and DJ Donald Glover will be taking the mantle of Lando Calrissian, while "Game of Thrones" actress Emilia Clarke will also be appearing in the film, whose role has not been disclosed yet.
