Who would've thought that two different games can coincide through crossovers? It's been happening in the world of video games for years already. What we haven't heard about is that Blizzard's "Overwatch's" newest character Sombra has been seen in the fighter roster of Capcom's "Street Fighter V"!
According to Gamespot, YouTuber "TheJamk" actually had the creative idea of putting in a new character in the latest "Street Fighter" title in the franchise. With the power of modding, he actually re-skinned one of the fighters, Laura, to give her the appearance of "Overwatch's" latest character, Sombra.
It could have fooled anyone at first glance, thinking that this is some joint project with the big names in video game history, Capcom and Blizzard Entertainment. However, being solely a re-skin, the moveset of "Street Fighter's" Laura still remains in the fighter, albeit having the appearance of the Latin American hacker from Blizzard's hit online game. Our guess is that the fighter game's engine can only handle so much mods that it can't take in gameplay "overhauls" to introduce new mechanics and skills.
This isn't the first time this kind of feat was attempted, especially with hints of "Overwatch" elements being seen in Capcom's well-known fighter franchise. Numerous attempts from different users had put in other recognized "Overwatch" characters like Tracer, Mei, Roadhog, Reinhardt, and D.Va into into "Street Fighter V".
In other news, "Street Fighter V" executive producer, Yoshinori Ono mentioned that the studio plans to continue "Street Fighter V is a title [they're] adding on to as it goes along, so [they're] working on it while planning ahead on the best way to develop it further."
Blizzard also has an upcoming unannounced project "that utilizes a robust first-person engine." Hints of that project still remain to be seen.
