Bradley Cooper has landed a new war film project. He will star as the lead of "Atlantic Wall," a WWII-set film to be helmed by "The Accountant" director, Gavin O'Connor.

According to Deadline, the plot of Atlantic Wall follows a lone American paratrooper (Cooper) stranded behind enemy lines hours before D-Day. His assignment is to deliver intelligence critical to the outcome of the war, and he is compelled to fulfill a promise to protect the young son of a murdered ally. Cooper will also executive produce alongside his partner Todd Phillips, O'Connor and Robyn Meisinger. The script was penned by Zach Dean.

"We're thrilled Imperative is bringing Atlantic Wall to life on screen with a talented filmmaker like Gavin," Imperative Entertainment partner Dan Friedkin said.

"Bradley's phenomenal track record speaks for itself. He's perfect to portray our complicated, often reluctant hero. We can't imagine better creative partners."

Cooper previously starred on 2014's "American Snipe"r directed by Clint Eastwood. At present, he's busy working on an upcoming project with Lady Gaga, the remake of "A Star Is Born" which he will be starring and directing.

He's also set to reprise his role as Rocket Raccoon on the follow-up story of "Guardians of the Galaxy," which hits theaters in May.

On the side of television, Cooper is also producing and developing "Black Flags, The Rise of ISIS" with HBO.

Production for Atlantic Wall will begin in 2018 and will shoot on location in Normandy. Casting additions are expected to be announced on a later date.

According to the site, Imperative is planning to co-finance the film with Warner Bros. but no deal has been made.
