While we wait for the upcoming "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" to be released, fans should not hope for any sequel for the "Star Wars" spin-off starring Felicity Jones, according to Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.

According to the latest issue of issue of Empire Magazine (via /Film), Kennedy was clear and adamant when she said that "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will not have any follow-up sequels, in spite of the possibilities that it would be a box office hit. That means we won't be seeing any more of Felicity Jones's character, Jyn Erso, and her diverse set of companions any more.

Lucasfilm chief creative officer John Knoll and director Gareth Edwards actually was with Kennedy in her statement. Edwards did stress that "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is effectively a prequel to the 1977's "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" and the entire classic trilogy directed by George Lucas. In other words, having another sequel in between "Rogue One" and "A New Hope" would be unnecessary already.

Presumably, this bit of news should not be worrying for fans of the franchise. There are also other stories in between "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith" and "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" that would lead up to the events of the latter.

"Star Wars" novelist James Luceno connected the events between the two movies with his work called "Star Wars: Catalyst - A Rogue One Story." The antagonistic Separatists from the prequel trilogy had somewhat a direct and essential connection to the events of "Rogue One," especially with Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen) and his daughter Jyn Erso.

Even the novel "Star Wars: Ahsoka" by E.K. Johnston showed Master Ahsoka Tano (the Jedi apprentice of Anakin Skywalker from the "Clone Wars" animated series) and Bail Organa meeting up together to discreetly establish the Rebellion movement after the events of "Revenge of the Sith."
