DICE has shared more details on "Battlefield 1's" updates, adding a new map, weapon, tweaks, and even a spectator mode.

According to the developer in a blog post, "Battlefield 1's" spectator mode is similar to other games where it lets players observe a live match going on. As an observer there are different camera views -- first and third person views -- or even a bird's eye view to get a wider look at the battlefield. In addition to those, there is also a "Free Cam" option that can allow players to move wherever they want on the map.

Another part of "Battlefield 1's" update has DICE to explain that "weapons are not equipped with optics, and are intended to provide players with gameplay inspired by the WW1 trenches." This pertains to a new option for Custom Games, where players can toggle all classes to be limited to using only one rifle -- their own class rifle.

The new "Battlefield 1" update also gets to tweak the shotgun mechanics, with DICE's main focus is to "[even] out advantages and disadvantages of each shotgun type." Due to the shotguns being too powerful at "certain distances," the developers have taken upon themselves to reduce the range for buckshot variants of shotguns such as the M97 Trench Gun, Model 10-A, and Sawed Off Shotgun. In short, this will minimize chances of a one-hit kill at great distances for these weapons.

Shotguns aren't the only ones getting the tweaks. Even syringe cooldown for medics has been worked on. Along with those, other factors such as sprinting and spawning into a landship have been tweaked, although DICE will be revealing more on them in patch notes soon.

In other news, "Battlefield" Premium members will be able to get the Giant's Shadow map and grenade crossbow weapon now, while regular players will be getting them on Dec. 20.
