"Running Man" was recently mired with controversy after the immediate departure of Song Ji Hyo and Kim Jong Kook from the variety show. After the decision, the show announced they have asked Kang Ho Dong to join the SBS program.

To address the matter, Kang Ho Dong's management released a statement to reveal that the entertainer has decided not to take the offer to join "Running Man," Allkpop reported.

"As it was reported yesterday, Kang Ho Dong was given an offer for SBS "Running Man Season 2," and he did make the decision to join after giving it a deep thought," SM C&C said in the dispatch.

The label continued, "However, we found out that Kang Ho Dong's decision has become uncomfortable due to various situations. As a result, we are here to officially announce our stance."

SM C&C added they are unaware of the real story behind the departure of Song Ji Hyo and Kim Jong Kook; hence, the label does not want to risk making Kang Ho Dong uncomfortable if he ever takes the offer.

"With that in mind, we feel hurt and sorry, but will politely decline the offer. We apologize for creating complications to the loving fans of "Running Man," the producers, and SBS associates who made the offer. We apologize," the agency concluded.

On Tuesday, many were shocked upon learning about Song Ji Hyo and Kim Jong Kook's exit from "Running Man." According to Soompi, the actress reportedly came up with the decision to leave the variety show due to conflict between acting and hosting.

On the other hand, Kim Jong Kook's label revealed it was the singer's decision to exit from "Running Man," refusing to give the reasons behind it. However, there have been rumors claiming the two were informed at the last minute, creating confusion among the viewers.
