TNT’s NBA reporter Craig Sager passed away after more than two years battling leukimia. Fans and NBA viewers will miss his colorful fashion style reporting from the sideline which made him easily noticed.
Sager died at 65 on Thursday Dec. 15 after battling a rare form of cancer for more than two years. After a multiple rounds of chemotherapy and other treatments from his blood cancer, he passed away in Atlanta, New York Times reported.
Known for his enthusiastic and exuberant reporting, Sager was also esily noticed for his colorful suits. His death will be a loss for NBA fans, viewers, colleagues and players. More than that, Sager is known for having a deep knowledge in baskeball and always looking for background information for his report. His colleagues Marv Albert and Reggie Miller admired his passion for the game.
In an honor of his death, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made a different approach to commemorate him, USA Today reported. Kerr asked asked the audience in the Thursday night game between the Warriors and Knicks game at the Oracle arena to applaud him instead of the moment of silence.
Kerr said a few words as a tribute to his passion for the game. At the end of his speech, Kerr asked the audience to applaud Sager because that is more appropriate for him.
Sage’s sense of fashion has been a delight in the NBA games. Prior to his death, he published his biography titled “Living Out Loud: Sports, Cancer and the Things Worth Fighting For” last month. He explained the reason for wearing a dazzling colorful outfits every time he worked in the field.
“My clothes reflect who I am,” he wrote . “I believe that life should be fun and so should your clothes.”
