The "Civilization" series has been adding a lot of, well, civilizations in the game that have always exposed players to the different cultures and histories of the world. Just recently, "Civilization VI" has a new civilization in the game, the Polish, along with a huge update and a Vikings scenario.
Recent reports say that the "Poland Civilization & Scenario Pack" adds Poland and its new leader Jadwiga to the latest installment of the series. Developer Firaxis says that the Polish leader was an expert mediator, champion of Catholicism and protector of the poor.
The DLC also includes Poland's scenario called "Jadwiga's Legacy," where the main goal is to defend Poland, Prague, and Vienna from invading forces that are the Ottoman Turks and Teutonic Knights.
The Poland Civilization brings back their unique unit from the previous installment, the Winged Hussars, which can pack a punch in attacking and pushing back defending units. This time in the "Civilization VI" version of Poland, its unique building called the Sukiennice, or cloth hall, where players can get bonus Production from foreign Trade Routes, and Gold from internal Trade Routes.
As with every other civilizations in the game, Poland has a unique ability called Golden Liberty, which allows a Fort or Encampment to help gain territory for the Polish, and even steal territory from other civilizations. Poland also has the ability to convert a Military Policy Slot into a Wildcard slot, granting them extra flexibility in culture.
The Polish leader in the game, Jadwiga, can grant the ability to spread religion to any nearby city when gaining another civilization's territory. Additionally, players can also get bonus Faith, Culture and Gold from her relics.
The "Poland Civilization & Scenario Pack" costs $4.99 USD.
Here's the trailer:
In addition to the Poland DLC, we have the "Vikings Scenario Pack" (otherwise also called "Vikings, Traders and Raiders"), which has also been considered to have the most detailed scenario yet.
With the pack comes six new City-States to the base game:
- Auckland (Industrial): Additional production for Coastal tiles.
- Antananarivo (Cultural): Culture bonus that increases with every Great Person earned.
- Armagh (Religious): Builders can construct the Monastery improvement, which provides Faith and heals religious units.
- Granada (Militaristic): Builders can construct the Alcazar improvement, which protects military units and provides Culture.
- Muscat (Trade): Bonus Amenities in cities with a Commercial Hub.
- Palenque (Scientific): Improved City growth for cities with a Campus.
The pack also adds three new Natural Wonders: Eyjafjallajökull, Lysefjord, and Giant's Causeway.
Scenario-wise, it will have to 100 turns for the players to play and is set from the years 787 to 1087. Player can also have three notable heroes to play: Harald Hardrada of Norway, King Canute of the Danes, or Olof Skotkonung of Sweden.
According to the developers, the Viking pack also has numerous gameplay opportunities that come along with the scenario. Players can establish trade routes and numerous profitable cities, spread religion and Faith among their people, invade and conquer countries such as England and Paris, search Vinland with an explorer, or even travel the Gibraltar and the Mediterranean. There are also special art assets included for the leaders.
