"Hannibal" television series creator Bryan Fuller discussed the possible return for the defunct franchise.

Speaking to the latest episode of "Blumhouse's Shock Waves Podcast" Fuller said that he is open to continue the series as an irregular mini-series. He went to say that it is possible to draw inspiration of the "Silence of the Lambs" story but clarified that he will not pursue recreating the said film.

"I think the film adaptation is a perfect film, but there's a lot of interesting nooks and crannies to explore in a television series. I hope we get to tell the story ... I think, ideally for the cast, it would be as a mini-series, here and there. Let's do 6 to 8 episodes of that, and 6 to 8 episodes over here. And do it as an irregular thing," he said, Screen Crush reported.

Fuller's lobby for "Hannibal revivial" is also echoed by the series' star Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy. Dancy said that the return would likely put closure to the story of Will and Hannibal, Screen Rant reported.

Other cast members of the series are also reportedly "game" to return if given the chance according to Fuller. However, he did acknowledge that there might be some scheduling hurdles before everyone can get settled.

"The cast is game, I'm game, it's just a matter of finding the right time where everybody's schedules sync up, but I would love to continue to tell the story with Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen. They're such a fantastic collaborators, and one of the most satisfying actor-showrunner relationships I've ever had in this industry. So I would love to continue this story," he explains.

"Hannibal" is an American psychological thriller-horror television series based on the novels of Thomas Harris. The series received critical acclaim for the performances of its lead actors and visual style of the show, even winning the Saturn Award for Best Action-Thriller Television Series when it was still airing.
