Kim Hyung Jun of SS301 shared that he will be enlisting in the army very soon. Once he completed his 5-week training, he is expected to join the police force as conscripted policeman.
KBS World reported that Hyung Jun passed the conscripted police exam earlier this year and he is entering the army in April 2017. his agency, CI Entertainment also confirmed that the singer is indeed leaving to fulfill his duty as a man of South Korea.
Initially, the singer decided to enlist in military in 2014. However, because he was doing so good at that time, with many acting and music projects being line-up for him, Hyung Jun eventually postponed his mandatory military service.
Now, with the confirmation that the singer is enlisting next year, he will join the growing list of celebrities who will enter the army in 2017. Some of the artists who have already announced their enlistment include Big Bang's TOP and JYJ's Junsu.
Allkpop reported that the two are enlisting on the same day, on Fe. 9, 2017. Both are joining the police force but will be assigned on different agencies.
Super Junior's Kyu Hyun and ZE:A's Kwang Hee are also expected to start their army duty next year. But then, unlike TOP and Junsu, Kyu Hyun and Kwang Hee have not officially announced their enlistment yet.
Moving on, Hyung Jun debuted via the idol group SS501 in 2005. After five years of promoting together, the members of the group started to promote individually. In 2011, he release his first solo album entitled "My Girl."
Later on, a sub-unit called SS301 was formed and Hyung Jun is part of it. The group promoted overseas and they recently wrapped up their Japanese concert. In February, they will hold a performance in Mexico called the "SS301 Eternal 50" concert.
Finally, Hyung Jun was also able to explore the acting field while pursuing a solo career. Some of his known dramas include "My Shining Girl" and "Late Blossom."
