It may seem a bad news for several fans of the Nintendo 3DS who used to play via online. Nintendo tends to temporarily close the 3DS online service for a server maintenance.

Sending the 3DS online service to an offline mode is a rare case for them, for they are known for a server stability. The server maintenance is a standard procedure to increase and sustain the server's stability and consistency, Cinema Blend has learned.

In a press release made by the DualShockers, the 3DS server maintenance will start at exactly 5pm until 7pm, both on PST time zone. The UK maintenance will start 1am to 3am on the 10th of January.

Nintendo reassured that the services such as leaderboards, rankings and other online multiplayer stuff will be back as soon as the maintenance is done. No further changes or deletion for any recent activities and achievements.

In this case, 3DS community who are scheduled for any transactions, tournaments and events on that day will be removed. 3DS owners also need to restart or reboot their handheld video game console in order to perform some updates and changes for the online services.

On the other side of the news about Nintendo, the Nintendo Switch Presentation is about to start this January 12th. The much awaited event for the upcoming Nintendo Switch will be held at Tokyo, Japan.
