SM Entertainment responds to f(x) Krystal going solo

Earlier, an exclusive report revealed that f(x) member Krystal is going to debut solo. It is said that the 22-year old singer will debut sometime in February this year.

Through an exclusive report by Sports Donga, on Jan. 4, apparently a rep revealed that sometime in February, Krystal will be making her solo debut through releasing a mini-album. If the reports were true, this would be her first time as a soloist after being an idol for eight years, Allkpop reported.

It can be recall that her team mates, Amber made her solo debut with "Shake That Brass" in 2015, while Luna made her solo debut in 2016 with "Free Somebody." Following her team mates debut, speculations that Krystal is next in line arose.

In response to the report, Krystal's agency, SM Entertainment, released an official statement. "Nothing has been decided in regards to Krystal's solo album," as per Soompi.

Chrystal Soo Jung or better known by her stage name Krystal, debuted as a member of the South Korean girl group f(x) in 2009. She then participated in SM Entertainment's project "SM The Ballad."

Other than her group activities, the singer also appeared in various television dramas but has gained recognition in SBS' "The Heirs." Krystal played the role of Lee Bo Na - a daughter of the CEO of Mega Management.

The SBS drama is set in a high-school populated by the privileged and uber-rich. Starring in the drama as main characters are Hallyu stars Lee Min Ho, Park Shin Hye, and Kim Woo Bin.

"The Heirs" was the first Korean drama co-produced by the American distribution platform DramaFever and Korean production company Hwa & Dam pictures. The series became a major hit in South Korea and received immense popularity across Asia.
