"Once Upon A Time" will feature the return of another familiar Disney character in the back half of Season 6.
According to Entertainment Weekly, JoAnna Garcia Swisher will reprise her role as Princess Ariel in an upcoming episode slated to air this spring. As to what brings her back to the ABC fantasy series, executive producers Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis said that she will be teaming up with our heroes on the said episode.
"Ariel returns and meets Princess Jasmine [Karen David] as they join Hook [Colin O'Donoghue] on an adventure as he and Emma [Jennifer Morrison] face a daunting challenge that requires a big time princess team-up," the showrunners previewed.
Fans may recall that Ariel was last seen on Once Upon A Time season 4 when she helped Ursula get her happy ending by reuniting her with Poseidon.
Swisher joins recently cast Brandon Sprink who has been tapped to play the young Baelfire in episode 13 of the current season. Star Robert Carlyle broke the news on Twitter in early December with a photo taken from the set.
"No OUAT tonight, but just finished ep 613 with the latest Baelfire.. the lovely and hugely talented @brandonsspink," the actor wrote.
In addition to "Once Upon A Time," Swisher's other TV credits include "The Astronaut Wives Club," "The Mindy Project," "Animal Practice," "Royal Pains," "How I Met Your Mother" and "Gossip Girl." She recently starred on FOX's baseball drama, "Pitch."
"Once Upon A Time" will resume its sixth season with an all new episode titled "Tougher Than The Rest," where viewers will find Emma and Regina stuck in the wish realm after seeing Robin.
"Once Upon A Time" also stars Ginnifer Goodwin, Lana Parilla and Jennifer Morrison, Emilie de Ravin and Josh Dallas. Season 6 returns in March on ABC.
