The Nets are in active search for a good deal before the trade deadline approaches. Brook Lopez is said to be the best trade asset they have to acquire a first round pick, at least two.

As per the record shows, the Nets are currently at the worst NBA record with 8-27, but they won't be getting the benefits of being at the bottom of the NBA standing records. Tanking this season won't provide them the lottery pick that the worst NBA team record would have since the Boston Celtics have the rights of swapping with them.

It was the result of taking Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett in a trade back in 2013, Real Sports 101 reported. With this, the Brooklyn Nets would not get any lottery pick until 2018 NBA season.

Obviously, Brook Lopez is the only valuable trade asset of the Brooklyn Nets. He is likely to be the best guy that they would give up in order to continue their rebuilding process, definitely for a longer time.

The NESN said in their press release that Brook Lopez is the Net's current main contributor, leading the team in scoring with 19.9 points and 1.7 blocks per contest. Lopez' current salary would be the biggest issue for a team that would acquire him via trade, with more than $21 million per year, it would be tough for a team to today to absorb such expenses.

Several basketball analysts said that Brook Lopez is the man that will fit in the Nets' rebuilding process. As a 28-year old bigman, Lopez should be on the team that can compete up to the playoffs as sports analysts said.

A couple of months ago during the NBA off-season, Brook Lopez was involved in numerous NBA trade. He was even linked with teams such as the Milwaukee Bucks and the Toronto Raptors.

As of today, the Toronto Raptors are among the 5 teams that can send 2 first-round picks to the Brooklyn Nets. But, sending out 2 first-round picks a time is likely to be a very rare scenario.

The Nets need to act quickly at least before the trade deadline this season. Lopez is rumored to be involved in blockbuster trade this season.
