'Hwarang' star Go Ara leaves SM Entertainment; Reveals new start with Artist Company

After leaving SM Entertainment, actress Go Ara talks about her fresh start with her new label Artist Company. The 26-year old actress has been with the label for over 13 years.

 On Jan. 10, Go Ara updated her social networking sites regarding her recent departure with SM Entertainment. "Artist Company; I'll learn a lot as an actress, and I'll work hard with a new beginning in mind, please cheer me on," Allkpop quoted the actress as saying.

Her new label, Artist Company is the first label she's signed with other than SM Entertainment. It is worth noting that in 2003, Go won SM Entertainment's Teen Model contest and immediately started training with other trainees under the same company in the areas of singing, acting, and dancing.

Go is noted for her role in the television series "Reply 1994 (2013)," "You're All Surrounded (2014,) and on her ongoing drama "Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth." The ongoing KBS2 drama airs every Mondays and Tuesdays at 10 p.m. KST.

Earlier, it was reported that Go has been cast as one of the lead role in the KBS2 drama alongside actors Park Seo Joon and Park Hyung Sik. In the drama, the actress is playing as Kim Ah Ro - a half-breed with a cheerful and straightforward personality, who is forced to work multiple part-time jobs in order to support her family, The Korea Times reported.

Seo Joon plays the role of lower class citizen, but later becomes a legendary warrior. On the other hand, Hyung Sik will play the role of a young and distrustful king who secretly becomes a "hwarang" warrior, gaining strength and leadership ability in the process.

"Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth" depicts a story about a "Hwarang" or young warriors of the Silla Kingdom (B.C. 57 - A.D 935). The drama started airing its first episode on Dec. 19 and is expected to wrap up after 20 episodes on Feb. 21.
