The second half of "Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2 will focus on the Legion of Doom and their search for the Spear of Destiny. The show's executive Producer Marc Guggenheim, said the midseason will reveal the power the spear holds.
Guggenheim talked briefly about the storyline for the midseason of "Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2 in a recent interview. He said the second half takes off after the midseason finale, with the Legion of Doom on a quest for the Spear of Destiny.
The producer hinted that ultimately the villains will have the spear in their possession. When this happens, the Legion of Doom becomes more powerful, since they can now manipulate time.
"Changing time is like painting with the biggest paintbrush possible; using the Spear of Destiny is like using a very, very fine-point technical pen," Guggenheim told TV Line.
Likewise, the cliffhanger in the midseason finale of "Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2 confirmed Guggenheim's statement. The second half ended with a revelation of Rip Hunter's whereabouts. Apparently, the Legion of Doom changed the events in Rip's timeline using the Spear of Destiny. . The villains turned the former Time Master and Waverider captain into an American film director.
Guggenheim told the publication that Arthur Darvill, who plays Rip, seemed to enjoy his new identity. The actor even had to change his natural British accent to play the part.
Regardless, the Legion of Doom will not have the Spear of Destiny for long in "Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2. According to previous midseason spoilers from Bleeding Cool, Sara Lance and team manage to retrieve parts of the spear and parts of the amulet that Eobard Thawne used to track the spear. This happens during an encounter with the villains. Unfortunately, amid the confrontation the Legion of Doom also captures Rip Hunter.
