JYP Entertainment issues statement after removing Wonder Girls’ photo

Recently, JYP Entertainment took down Wonder Girls' photo from the building. In response, the agency released an official statement to clear the issue.

On Jan. 13, a representative of JYP Entertainment released an official statement to Korean news outlet MyDaily regarding the removal of the group's photo. "We are still in discussion about renewing Wonder Girl's contract," the representative said.

"Nothing has been decided yet. We will let everyone know once discussions are concluded," he continued as translated by Soompi.

It is worth noting that the group's contract with JYP Entertainment is due to expire this month. And with their current situation, some members of the group have been already in contact with other agencies.

"It's true that we discussed transferring with one Wonder Girls member. However, their contract has not yet expired, so it is difficult to reveal anything since we are still in discussion," Naver TV reported.

Following the label's removal of the Wonder Girls' photo, speculations arose that the group's contract were not renewed having already reached this stage without conclusive discussions. Consequently, speculations that the group will disband following the expiration of their contract.

Wonder Girls debuted in 2007 with their song "Irony," and this year marks the group's 10th year anniversary. The group is currently composed of Yubin, Yeeun, Sunmi, and Hyerim.

The group is also known internationally after penetrating the American market in 2009 as an opening act for "The Jonas Brothers' World Tour," performing the English version of their hit single "Nobody."

In late 2009, "Nobody" charted at No. 76 on the "Billboard Hot 100" chart. Wonder Girls' is the first South Korean group to ever enter the chart.

Through the years, the group has gained entry in the Chinese market with their compilation album "Wonder Girls" with the Chinese version of their single "Tell Me," "So Hot," and "Nobody." Since 2007, the group had already released three studio albums. To date, the group have already sold 19,000 albums in America, according to Billboard.
