The New York Knicks (18-24) and Boston Celtics (26-15) square off at the TD Garden on Wednesday, Jan. 18 as the 2016-2017 NBA regular season continues.

New York has continued with their struggles after starting the season with a 16-13 record. The team lost 11 of their next 13 matches after that and is currently on a two-game losing skid to drop to the 11th spot in the Eastern Conference standings, two-and-a-half games behind eighth-seeded squad Chicago Bulls.

In their last game on Monday, the Knicks suffered another heartbreaking one-point loss, this time to the Atlanta Hawks, 108-107, at their home court of Madison Square Garden, as per the New York Daily News.

Carmelo was impressive in the game with 30 points on 10-for-16 field goal shooting along with seven rebounds and two assists to lead the hapless Knicks in a losing effort.

Derrick Rose added 18 points, four boards, and nine assists while Mindaugas Kuzminskas chipped in 14 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals filling-in for the injured Kristaps Porzingis in the starting lineup.

Shooting guard Ron Baker, who replaced Courtney Lee in the starting unit, contributed 12 points, three rebounds, and two steals. Off the bench, Justin Holiday had 11 points and four boards.

Meanwhile, the Celtics are holding on to the third spot in the Eastern Conference table with a three-game winning streak. The team has won nine of their last 11 matches.

Boston romped the Charlotte Hornets, 108-98, at the TD Garden also on Monday night for their third consecutive win, SB Nation reported.

Isaiah Thomas again led head coach Brad Steven's side during the match by scoring 35 points, 17 of which in the fourth quarter, together with five rebounds and four assists. It was the 25th consecutive game that Thomas had scored more than 20 points.

Al Horford added 22 points, six boards, and four assists while Jae Crowder had 15 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Kelly Olynyk contributed 15 points, nine boards, and four assists coming off the bench.

Prediction 

The Knicks are poor on the road this season with a 6-15 away record while the Celtics are 13-16 at home. A big win for Boston is predicted.
