Sandara Park is a huge star in her own right. Outside of 2NE1, she has successfully completed acting projects and commercials. She's also considered by many as a fashion icon. But despite her seemingly confident aura, the singer admitted that she struggled with her insecurities when she first joined 2NE1.
Through an Instagram post, Sandara Park invited her fans to attended the Jan. 18 recording of JTBC's "Talking Street." One fan who was present at the event wrote a summary of the things Park talked about.
"She said she felt that she was the least talented and her role was a decorative one," the fan narrated, as translated by Koreaboo. The fans wrote that the 2NE1 singer went on to say that even the public had the perception that she was merely in charge of the visual for 2NE1.
Sandara Park also recalled their guest appearance on "Yoo Hee Yeol's Sketchbook" shortly after 2NE1's debut, where the host praised Minzy's dancing, Bom's voice and CL's rap. Park was simply recognized for her visuals with no mention of her talents. She felt bad about it and cried her heart out on the rooftop of the group's dormintory.
Despite her insecurities, Sandara Park always felt the support of her group members CL, Bom and Minzy who constantly cheered her on. The fan then commented that it was evident in the tone of Sandara Park's voice that she truly loves 2NE1.
Meanwhile, 2NE1 will release their final song "Goodbye." This will be the group's farewell song. According to Soompi, the lyrics were written by CL, with J. Gramm and Rook Monroe composing. "Goodbye" will be out on Jan. 21.
2NE1 officially announced their disbandment on Nov. 2016. CL and Sandara Park have re-signed their contracts with YG Entertainment, while Park Bom decided not to renew her contract. Member Minzy left the group in May 2016 and will soon pursue a solo career.
