Kylie Jenner's popularity has taken the world by storm. The youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner brood has a legion of devoted followers who swear by her beauty and fashion tips and go to great lengths to achieve her look. Such is the case for a young South Korean girl who underwent plastic surgery to look like Kylie Jenner.
On a local talk show titled "Hello Counselor," a mother shared that she is worried by her daughter's obsession with plastic surgery. To everyone's surprise, the mother revealed that her daughter's fascination with plastic surgery began at the young age of 14. At that time, her daughter was asking permission to have double eyelid surgery.
According to The Inquirer, she later asked to do a nose job, which the mother strongly disapproved. But despite the mother's objection, the young girl still managed to go under the knife using her savings, which she raised from working in fast food chains.
Most South Koreans who undergo plastic surgery aim to look like a particular celebrity. Some of the popular choices include Kim Tae Hee and Song Hye Kyo. But for the young South Korean girl, she revealed that she wants to look like Kylie Jenner.
"I have much pride. There's none in Asia... There's a foreigner named Kylie Jenner," the girl said on the show. "She has a hot figure and she looks exotic."
South Korea has been regarded as the plastic surgery capital of the world due to the high number of operations that are recorded per year. In 2014 alone over 980,000 operations were recorded in the country, Business Insider reported.
The most popular operation is the eyelid surgery. Most Koreans have "monolid" eyes and having "double eyelids" is a sign of beauty. The procedure is also cheap and requires a shorter recovery period.
Society puts a large premium on visuals and it gives a person an advantage in the job market. Because of this trend, Korean parents spend around $1,000 to $3,000 for plastic surgery as a graduation gift for their children.
