Popular K-pop group 2NE1 may be disbanding soon, but that does not mean they don't have one last trick up their sleeves for their fans. The girl band, which earlier announced that they were going to do one last song titled, "Goodbye," followed up with a teaser poster for the upcoming track. The group's swan song after seven years of being together is expected to air on Saturday, Jan. 21.

What to know about 2NE1's 'Goodbye' song

2NE1, which was previously under the management of YG Entertainment, announced November last year that they were going to disband after seven years of being active in the K-pop business. The group consists of CL, Minzy, Sandara Park, and Park Bom, who have all since gone their separate ways to pursue their solo careers, according to Billboard.

It was a long time coming for the wildly popular 2NE1 group, but news of their disbandment were only a matter of time. The group took a long hiatus after Park Bom got entangled in an alleged drug scandal, while 2NE1 group leader CL was aggressively pursuing a career in the United States following her signing with US talent manager Scooter Braun, according to Koreaboo.

As such, their last track as a girl band, "Goodbye," would serve as their swan song for the group's brief but highly successful run in show business. Penned by no less than CL herself, the song was coproduced by J Gramm and Rook Monroe, and will be about the girls' "regrets" as the era of 2NE1 comes to an end, according to Popcrush.

Minzy caught unaware of 'Goodbye'

Unfortunately, it looks like Minzy was caught unaware that 2NE1 was even doing a swan song for the end. In an Instagram post, she said that it was "unfortunate" that she had to find out about "Goodbye" through a news article, but nevertheless expressed her support for the group's ventures, according to the same publication. This also led to many fans to think that she might not be included in the track, though the teaser photo contradicts that claim.

Minzy was the first to leave 2NE1 after her contract expired with YG Entertainment. It's widely believed that her exit from the girl band was the deciding factor in 2NE1's disbandment. Stay tuned for more 2NE1 news.
