Preview

Los Angeles has now descended to the cellar of the Western Conference with six losses in their last seven matches.

The Lakers went through their worst loss in franchise history last Sunday with an embarrassing 122-73 thrashing in the hands of lowly team Dallas Mavericks on the road at the American Airlines Center, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The team played without starting point guard D'Angelo Russell, who is currently out with a strained right calf, bruised right knee, and mildly sprained right MCL. Rookie Brandon Ingram filled-in for Russell in the starting lineup, but the offense suffered as the team finished with a season-low 10 assists during the contest.

Russell is expected to still be out against the Blazers.

Only two bench players scored in double digits for head coach Luke Walton's side, namely Lou Williams and Jordan Clarkson, who netted 15 and 10 points respectively.

"We didn't show up to play. It's embarrassing for us as a team and for us as an organization. The effort just wasn't there tonight, which I don't understand," Walton said after the game.

Meanwhile, the Blazers snapped a four-game losing slide with a 127-123 overtime win over the Boston Celtics last Saturday on the road at the TD Garden, Oregon Live reported.

CJ McCollum led the squad with 35 points, two rebounds, three assists, and three steals in 46 minutes with Damian Lillard adding 28 points and seven assists. Even Turner had 12 points, four boards, four assists, and two blocks while Mason Plumlee contributed a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds with eight assists.

Off the bench, Meyers Leonard and Al-Farouq Aminu scored 17 and 11 points respectively and have combined for 11 rebounds.

Prediction

The Lakers are 5-19 on the road and the Blazers are 11-9 at home. A huge win for Portland is predicted.
