Sony to unveil flagship phone with Snapdragon 835 during MWC 2017? Plus 4 more phones in progress

Sony will unveil its new flagship phone in this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC). The event is the world's largest gathering for the mobile industry.

It is said that Sony's biggest highlight in this year's event might be it new flagship phone with 4K display powered by the latest Snapdragon 835 system chip. It is said that the new flagship phone will be called Sony Yoshino as revealed by the Georgian blog Review.ge. translated by Phone Arena.

Aside from the flagship phone, rumors that Sony will unveil up to five new phones started surfacing online. These phones are: Sony BlancBright, Sony Keyaki, Sony Hinoki, and Sony Mineo.

Sony's flagship phone is said to have a 5.5-inch 4K display (3840 x 2160 pixels) and will be powered by the Snapdragon 835 system chip working along with either 4GB or 6GB of LPDRR4 RAM. The phone is also expected to come with the new Sony IMX400 image sensor which should deliver a noticeable improvement in image quality.

Sony's upper-tier phone, the Sony BlancBright is also said to feature a 5.5-inch screen with a more Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Rumors revealed that the phone could also be powered by Snapdragon 835 or Snapdragon 635 with 4GB RAM.

The Sony Keyaki, a mid-range device will feature a more compact display of 5.2-inch screen with a full HD resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. System chip to be used will be the cheaper MediaTek Helio P20 with 4GB RAM with up-to 64GB of on-board storage. Aside from the storage, it is said that the handset will have a 23MP main camera and a 16MP front cam.

Sony is also rumored to release two affordable phones: The Sony Hinoki and Sony Mineo. With a 5-inch HD display, Sony Hinoki will run on the MediaTek Helio P20 system chip with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The handset will also equipped a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8MP front cam, as revealed by GSM Arena.

Other than its price of $350, details for the affordable Sony Mineo is yet to be released. If it's true that Sony will release these five phones during the MWC 2017 event, it will definitely be a show stealer. However, the company did not release any official confirmation regarding these devices.
