The Denver Nuggets (21-25) are set to clash with the Los Angeles Lakers (16-34) at the Staples Center on Tuesday, Jan. 31 as the 2016-2017 NBA regular season moves forward.

Denver is on a three-game winning streak and has won seven of their last nine matches to settle in the eighth spot in the Western Conference standings. The team is six games behind seventh-place squad Memphis Grizzlies and one-and-a-half games ahead of ninth-place team Portland Trail Blazers.

The Nuggets are coming off a second straight victory over the Phoenix Suns, 123-112, on the road at the Talking Stick Resort Arena last Saturday, as per the Denver Post. It was the fourth victory of head coach Mike Malone's squad over Phoenix as they swept the Suns this season.

Danilo Gallinari led the squad with 32 points on 9-for-14 field goal shooting and 11-for-11 free throw shooting. He also had eight rebounds in 37 minutes of play.

Kenneth Faried started the game and contributed a double-double of 21 points and 13 boards with two assists, two steals, and two blocked shots.

Jameer Nelson, who is filling-in for the injured Emmanuel Mudiay at starting point guard, had 17 points, six assists, and three rebounds while Gary Harris had 15 points, eight boards, four assists, and two steals. Off the bench, rookie Jamal Murray added 18 points in 23 minutes of playing time.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles is still reeling with eight losses in its last nine games. The team is second from the last place in the West at the moment, three games behind 13th-place team Dallas Mavericks and seven games behind the Nuggets.

The Lakers dropped a 96-88 loss to the Utah Jazz on Thursday night on the road at the Vivint Smart Home Arena, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Playing without D'Angelo Russell (calf) and Julius Randle (illness), the Lakers were led by 20 points from Lou Williams coming off the bench. Williams also had five rebounds.

Jordan Clarkson and rookie Ivica Zubac fired 16 points apiece also from the second unit, with the former also hauling down 10 boards while the latter adding five rebounds and four assists.

Nick Young led the starters with 13 points and three boards.

Prediction 

The Nuggets are 9-14 on the road this season while the Lakers are 11-13 at home. Denver is predicted to win this match over the uninspired Lakers.
