The Los Angeles Lakers (17-34) and Washington Wizards (28-20) are scheduled to face one another in a 2016-2017 NBA regular season match at the Verizon Center on Thursday, Feb. 2.

Los Angeles has continued to struggle in midseason with eight losses in their last ten games. The team is currently second to the last place in the Western Conference standings, one game ahead of cellar-dwellers Phoenix Suns.

The Lakers have snapped a three-game losing slide after holding off the Denver Nuggets, 120-116, on Tuesday night on their home floor of Staples Center, as per the Los Angeles Times.

D'Angelo Russell returned from a calf injury to lead head coach Luke Walton's squad with a double-double of 22 points and 10 assists with seven rebounds.

Nick Young top-scored for the Lakers with 23 points, three boards, and three assists while Timofey Mozgov was the third starter in double figures with 12 points, six rebounds, and three blocked shots.

Off the bench, Lou Williams fired 21 points with five boards, seven assists, and two steals while Ivica Zubac added 17 points and six rebounds.

Julius Randle continues to be out with an illness and he was replaced by Tarik Black in the starting lineup.

Meanwhile, Washington continues to play well with a five-game winning streak. The team has won 12 of their last 14 games to help them climb to the fourth spot in the Eastern Conference table, one game behind third-running team Toronto Raptors and a half-game ahead of fifth-place squad Atlanta Hawks.

The Wizards are coming off a 117-101 rout of the New York Knicks also on their home court of Verizon Center last Tuesday, the Washington Post reported.

Bradley Beal had 28 points, two rebounds, and four assists in the win while Markieff Morris contributed a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds.

John Wall and Marcin Gortat both had 15 points with Wall also contributing 13 assists and four boards while Gortat adding 10 rebounds and two assists.

Kelly Oubre Jr. fired 14 points off the bench on 5-for-7 field goal shooting in 28 minutes.

Prediction 

The Lakers are poor on the road this season with a 5-21 record while the Wizards are excellent at home with a 20-6 slate. A big win for Washington is predicted.
